Hwalan was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up in upstate New York. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Columbia University with a major in Visual Art. Awards for her art include a Gold Medal from Scholastic and a Hans Hessel Award from The National Arts League. Hwalan is a member of the USA Shaolin Temple Demo Team and has performed martial arts and yoga in numerous venues, including ESPN’s 100 Greatest Moments in Sports and Wu Tang Revival Concert. Hwalan is a member of the Larry Myers Theatre Group and Tribeca Performing Arts Center Writers in Performance. She’s based in New York City.
